Executive Director
Katheren Koehn MA, RN FAAN is the Executive Director of the Minnesota Organization of Registered Nurses (MNORN). She worked as a staff nurse at Abbott Northwestern Hospital for 35 years on an orthopedic/spine unit. She has served on the Boards of Directors of the American Nurses Association (ANA) and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). She was the first chair of ANCC’s Commission on Pathway to Excellence, an international program that recognizes excellence in nursing departments. She is a past president of the Minnesota Nurses Association (MNA). In 2004, she was awarded a Bush Foundation’s Leadership Fellowship, completing her Master of Arts in Liberal Studies at Hamline University. Her thesis explored the 1966 mass resignation of American Registered Nurses, a strategy to achieve a national salary goal as a means to reduce a severe shortage of nurses. She was inducted as a fellow of the American Academy of Nursing in 2016 and is currently a member of the board of directors of the Nurses Peer Support Network, whose mission is to provide meaningful support for nurses and nursing students with substance use disorder.
