State Nurses’ Associations Raise Alarm Over Reports of Potential Dismissal of USPSTF Members

MNORN is one of the members of a coalition of 16 state nurses' associations expressing profound concerns regarding recent reports that U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. is considering the removal of all current members of the non-partisan United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF). These reports accompanied the last-minute cancellation of the USPSTF July meeting. A similar approach was taken by this administration with the previous members of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP). While HHS has publicly stated that no final decision has been made regarding the USPSTF composition, we take this opportunity to proactively reaffirm our strong support of this vital public health institution.
